Overview:
During the Civil War, residents of rural Gettysburg found themselves caught between battle lines, and later cared for 21,000 wounded in its aftermath. In 1863 President Abraham Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address and dedicated the Soldiers' National Cemetery. This guided tour allows to effectively explore the history of the town and its citizens. At the Museum, witness the Battle of Gettysburg from two perspectives – the civilians who lived in Gettysburg and the soldiers who fought here. Step back in time to see the reality of war and hear the stories of the people who called Gettysburg home. The stories are told through 3-D photographs, artifacts and interactive displays. The film, A New Birth of Freedom, narrated by award winning actor Morgan Freeman, and there is a Cyclorama painting depicting Pickett's Charge.
